Hey Heath,

Does Fcp x still not supporting Xml exporting?

I was surfing and studying thru Apple.com and under an article on Fcp x, it said that as Color and Sound are now in one application with Fcp itself, there is this high probability that in between transferring old projects from fcp 7 lower to Fcp x, one could lose data related to color or sound or both.

Im going for fcp x anyway, however, I believe Apple might have released Fcp x earlier than it should have. This could well be as a result of fierce competition to release newly developed software etc. With other makers.

Cheers

It doesn't matter what version of FCP 1-7 you have, it's all about a fresh new version, fresh start. Assisted Editing is great about tech support: http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/contact.html

Good luck!!

In their FAQ, it says:

"We haven't tested with FCP 6 but believe it will work with XML from 6. We have a concern with speed changes from FCP 6 as that changed between versions, but we're committed to making it work with FCP 6."

It's scary :-/ BUT EXCITING!!! Ha ha ha... Can't wait to get the FCP X up and running with minimal hassles especially getting to a stage where I have already transfered my older files from FCP 6.0.1 to FCP X. :)

The fact that I don't have a later version of FCP 6.0.1, I reckon, should not cause any troubles in purchasing and downloading FCP X. Right?

Hi Heath,

Just got the 2TB Hitachi HD Internal Hard-drive and have loaded it. It's taking its time formatting it :) The next step will be to upload Mac OS X Leopard and then I suppose purchasing the FCP X, together with Motion 5 and Compressor 4. :)

I'm going to go through the links you've sent me here above and thank you so much for your time, expertise and above all, your valuable friendship! You surely rock my friend! :)

Hugs,

Make sure you have 7toX: http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/7toX/

And read this: http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/7toX/about.html

And look on the sidebar (right) for a tidbit on FCP 6. I think you'll be fine. This is EXCITING! Going to FCP X, you'll be happy. Here are training options: http://heathmcknight.com/2011/06/final-cut-pro-x-training-options/

Oh dear Lord :) Well, I don't really use Adobe apart from for photographic purposes.

I have ordered SATA 2 TB hard-drive for my Apple Mac Pro and will be purchasing and downloading (:-/) FCP X tomorrow. I am also going to get the latest versions of Compressor as well as Motion.

I suppose it should not be a tough task opening film projects in FCP 06 with FCP X?

Cheers,

Hi Heath :)

I do but it had happened to me more than once that I had to re-upload some filmmaking which was made available only in its digital downloadable format. It was some suffering as I could not connect to internet nor to original downloaded one.

There is this precautions feeling which usually come with digital downloadable formats. It's like if in trouble and not connected to internet, your fate is already doomed. :-/
